I use 23G 1.5" for just about everything; you just have to be careful how far you push it in on certain muscles.
Last Spring I was injected 150mg test prop 4x weekly (Sun, Tue, Thur, Sat). In my final week I bumped it to 200mg eod. I've always had problems injecting myself in the glutes, so if my buddy was around I would have him do that for me whenever I could. Other than that, I discovered that the shoulders and quads are pretty darn good places to use as well. I found that I could inject 2cc easily into my glute and fairly easily into my quad. I did inject 2cc into my shoulder once, but the sting I got afterwards was too painful. I could only handle doing 1.5cc in my shoulder and 1 cc maximum in my triceps.
So, based on my past experiences, I would say definitely give your shoulders and quads a try, and then maybe attempt other muscles if those don't work well for you.
