Powerlifting/Shorter cycles/Quicker recovery - 09-27-2008

I have never really done a so called "real cycle" as far as length is concerned. My goals are primarily strength and only secondarily size.

I have done a little tren and a few sustonan 275's but nothing to be considered a "real" cycle according to today's insane newbie quantities.

I have my mind set on shorter cycles primarily because even with pct, I refuse to walk around for weeks after a long cycle cut off and all fucked up trying to get test back up.

I have experienced a crash before and refuse to experience that again. My job (sales) forces me to be more moderate. I have to keep my mood positive (no roller coaster moods).

That being said, I have used sustonan for shorter periods and received excellent strength gains with absolutely no crash and no sides. And that is what I am focused on. Lower quantities (want to keep my tolorence low) and shorter cycles for a quicker bounce back.

Obviously I realize the results will be much smaller, but as I said, because of my job I cannot afford to show up 3 months later 20 lbs heavier. But if I gain small quantities (shorter cycles) in a longer gradual period of time, then I can get away with it.

That being said I am still considering exactly what I will be using to keep it short and affective for quick bounce backs. Anyhow lot's of time to decide do it right.

we all have different goals when it comes to bb/lifting - if you have found what works best for your situation then you are a step ahead of most people..

good luck with your goals

Thanks guys for the support. Much appreciated.

I should have clarified my post better, sorry about that. What I meant was, my goals are aiming toward shorter cycles for mainly strength in the 3 lifts, size for me doesn't matter. If I can increase my strength and keep it, for me size will always follow.

So if anyone has done shorter cycles (4-6 weeks) for strength in powerlifting or some kind of sport, with success, I would love to hear about what you used and how quickly you recovered post cycle compared to longer cycles. I realize shorter cycles are not popular in bodybuilding, I was just hoping I could get away with being more moderate since my goal is mainly strength for powerlifting.

you probably can to be fair, it depends how far you wanna go with it, now id never recommend an oral cycle, BUT i have heard of many weightlifters having success by stacking both var and t-bol for 6-8wks, each to their own of course, but im sure that would yeild decent results, although oral only and especially two together isnt the best option....just another one. i am suprised you opted to run sustanon in the past, given that unless you shoot it like prop, it would take a while to feel results, and given again that its half-life is at least 3wks, thats not really a short cycle when you think about it, if you run it for 6-8wks on, you wait for it to clear then thats easily a 10wk cycle....????

That is a good option, but I think I will take your advice and stick to just one oral at the most.

On the sustonan I did do it every other day, that must be why it worked for me. For me it seemed to kick in real fast, but I ran it real short, so that must explain why I had NO crash whatsoever. I had to cut it short I had the worst pain from that shit. Felt like I was being shot with harpoon's.

I may go with a little sustanon every other day again, or maybe dbol and something less painful. Thanks.

Last winter I planned on running test prop and dbol for about 4-6 weeks together. I had to stop dbol after about a week and a half because it just destroyed any cardio that I was doing because of calf/shin pumps. I ran the test prop for 5 weeks. I injected 150mg 4 times a week (Sun, Tue, Thur, Sat) for a total of 600mg weekly, with the exception of my last week when I bumped it to 800mg. In those five weeks I gained 17 pounds. I got mixed opinions on how I looked from people. Some people thought I looked a little bloated while others thought I looked more lean. This was likely due to me putting on 17 pounds (kind of hard not to bloat a little), but the weight was fairly clean (which helped make me somewhat lean even with the weight gain). My strength did go up a little, but I was more interested in gaining weight. Keep in mind that I'm a football player, and that my workouts are not that of a bodybuilder's.

If you want to do a 4-6 cycle for mostly strength, I would say use test prop as a base. I once used injectable winstrol, which gave me a nice strength gain, made me lean, but also gave me muscle cramps and dehydrated me. The only other injectable that would be useful (if you can handle it) is tren acetate. As far as orals, dbol or anadrol would give nice strength gains (as well as bloat). I've tried anavar and halo in the past and anavar was great at cutting, but I didn't see a huge strength gain...I didn't see much of anything with halo.

I know this is a lot, but hopefully this will be of some use to you.

Those are great results from 5 weeks. Nice. I agree that prop and dbol would be my best choice. I realize tren works the best but that crap made me crazy lastime, so I will wait on that.

Thanks Lookin, for the input. Just goes to prove that shorter cycles can be affective and I would assume you recovered quicker since it was shorter.

Yeah I recovered pretty quick, but recovery has never really been a problem for me, probably because I'm in my twenties. I like shorter cycles also because I've noticed that most compounds I've tried make me irritable, which is a feeling that I definitely do not like. Fortunately, I'm pretty mellow in general, so even when I'm on cycle I still have pretty good control over any anger issues I encounter.
