What supplements and vitamins do you suggest for me? -

I'm starting to go to the gym again after a long long time, and my first day was yesterday. Anyway, now I'm trying to look for some good supplements and vitamins cause I know that's a vital part for fitness. If you have questions about my stats or goals, please ask here or email me, but put short I'm an average young guy trying to get lean. I talked to a friend of mine who's very fit about my goals, and he suggested just creatine. Another friend suggested I go to the GNC nutrition store to buy some supplements and vitamins, but to ask the people there because he wasn't sure what would be right for me. The person at the store suggested "Wheybolic Extreme 60," the same supplement my friend was actually using.
I asked for some vitamins or something like that, and she suggested "hydroxycut." The first thought running through my mind was if this stuff is too hardcore for me, a beginner? I was then wondering if she was just trying to sell the store's most expensive stuff first. Also, I didn't want to buy anything just yet because I wanted to ask my gym's advice (24 hour fitness) and ask for advice on these forums. My roommate from college uses N.O. Explode and Cell Mass, so I was wondering if that might be better? If it's safe for me to use, I don't mind using the best, hardcore supplements and vitamians that will help me reach my goal faster and more efficiently. So what you guys think? Any advice would really help! Thanks
