What are the better protein powders? Should I be looking for something special or are they all the same? - I.P., Lexington, KY

I certainly agree with you, Its true that many local stores supply protein and other nutritional supplements but I prefer bayho.com. It is best online store for buying proteins and other supplements, If you want to gain your weight simply you take protein with some creatine.

My training partner and I were using Optimum 100% Whey for a few years and then he had his cholesterol checked and the numbers were through the roof. The only thing he could figure is it was coming for his protein. So now we've switched to Muscle Milk which has less of the bad stuff. It doesn't mix or taste as well, but cholesterol content is a lot less. And yes his numbers have come down.
One shake about an hour before working out, another one after.
I like to mix my protein shakes with eggs an a charbo drink after a work out an I take a whey protein shake 25 mins before I lift.

100% whey is not the best option, your protein should always be consumed with carbohydrates for better and quicker absorbtion into your muscles, post or pre-workout....
another tip: if you are using whey to bump your intake up, drink with milk as the milk slows down the release of your protein and if your using it post workout then drink with water for faster absorbtion, > advise from a dietician......
i prefer to buy assimilated animal whey and soy whey as they are much cheaper and i can buy/use more without the extra cost....dont get sucked in by the marketing, most of them do pretty much the same thing, and remember whey is just convinient and should not replace whole foods.......

My "100% whey" has additives and carbs per serving, and strawberry isnt the best choice when cutting and using water to mix with - it tastes massively horrible.
I'm going to look into yamaharobs suggestion... if they do the same thing why pay more!
I had an employee give me her husbands Sci Fit or Sci Pro ( not upstairs atm but one of the two I think) it's 40g of protein but the funny thing is it's purple in color and I think is overf dyed. The next day after consumption I shit purple.. I didn't think about it at the time.. and I was like.. WTF!!!!

It might be the wrong area but I just wanted to comment about weight gainers a lot of them are real pricey an its much cheaper to get a big thing of regular oatmeal in put in with your protein shake..
