New Life Style - 09-26-2007

Hi TW, I got a personal email from the admin, and I thought I would post the reply here since other people may be in the same 'boat' as me. I haven't been here for ages simply because I've been doing my police training for a while now and trying keep all my other commitments in order. I got another 5 weeks of training and it's not compatible in timing with my bodybuilding, and I'm sure many would hate me for doing this but I'm suspending my bodybuilding only for these five weeks so I can spend more time revising for the upcoming tests, and when I become fully qualified, I'll have more time (and money) to use for my bodybuilding. I'll of course go to the gym when I got a spare time, but I'll most probably use that time for some minor cardio and ab work just to maintain some fitness. What I have noticed is however that even though I have suspended bodybuilding for a few weeks, and perhaps eating things I wouldn't normally, I still feel very good as I am meeting new people and not just the same old people you get at the gym, and so meeting all these new people at work is giving me other types of confidence boosts rather than the usual method of just pumping iron and looking great afterwards. I've come to realise I can't always rely on bodybuilding to feel great about myself, however I do admit looking 'Huge' is nice :] There's a lot of retired bodybuilders in the force that are giving me a helping hand (they are from South Africa and were very popular in that destination and so are giving me their exert tips when I need it). It's good to see real pros working with me rather than those cocky guys you get at the gym who simply make you feel on edge when training. If anyone has any thoughts or suggestion, please leave some tips as I would highly appreicate it e.g. would 5 weeks break be excessive etc etc.

Many thanks TW for all your help in the past months!
Max

Good for you. It sounds like you may be seeing the importance of living a well-rounded balanced life. Bodybuilding was an obsession for me for the first 10 to 12 years I was involved with it. It took precedence over everything else in my life and I was really pretty "one-dimensional". Don't get me wrong, hitting the weights is still a very important activity for me, but it doesn't trump all other things in life.

Good luck with your endeavors!
