Blood pressure and heart palpatations - 03-28-2008

I was at work this past Tuesday and around 5 p.m. I started to feel sick kind of like cold or flu symptoms. I felt totally drained so I finished my shift at seven p.m. and headed home once I was home I showered and ate. I was still was feeling sick so I took an otc cold medicine and headed to bed around ten p.m. I was having trouble sleeping so I was laying in bed awake when the palpatations started. It felt as if my heart would slow down and speed up which caused me to feel kind of faint and really freaked me out I did manage to fall asleep after an hour or so after everything kinda calmed down. The next day I was still tired but not having any palpatations at all but still felt bad in general. Thursady I contacted my doctors office and was told I could not be seen till April 16th so after kicking and screaming I got an appointment for 2:40 yesterday. So I arrived at office and after small was taking back and weighed and temp was taking also bp.My blood pressure was 140 over 100. The doc came in talked to me an ordered an ekg to be done which turned out to be fine. He also said that the palpatations was most likely from the otc cold medicine I took I have taken it in the past with no problems. He also wants me to wear a heart moniter for 24 hours to make sure there is nothing else going on. Also I have to take bp for the next seven days and if still high next visit will most likely be put on bp meds. It has been a crappy couple of days but have a better state of mind after seeing doc and I hope to get bp under control and get back in gym.

I'm sorry to hear. I've got a few questions:
1) any history of diabetes in your family?
2) are you on gear?
3) how old are you?
4) did the doctor order a blood test?

Hope you get better man. Take care of yourself.

I am 34 years old and I am not running any gear. I think also my farther had high bp but never did anything about plus he drank alot which is why he passed away. I also think one reason my bp was up is cause I had not slept well for a couple days I work a 12 hour swing shift rotate days and nights every week Im sure thats not good for you either lol I do not beleive their is anyone with diabetes in my family that I can remember anyway.

I've had my bout with Palps..

Eat Banana's
Drink OJ
CoQ10
Magnesium
Potassium

Never had a issue since I take these. Had a heart scan done about a year ago and everything was perfect.

You can find heart support vitas together at GNC or Vitamin Shoppe.

Sorry to hear about that...I used to have heart palp's so bad they thought I had some neurological disorder. I used to work 18 hour shifts at a fish processing plant in AK...I lived on coffee and I smoked at the time(14 years ago). After I started working out, cut down the coffee n soda, stopped smoking, and slept better....things got better. One thing the do told me was to slow down with the pot smoking...I thought he was full of shit, but after some research I found that palp's and moderate to heavy marijauna use are related. I would say absolutely no caffine and definitly try to find a stress relief....goosfaba

these guys pretty much covered it. lay low on the caffeine and stress(<--this one is nearly impossible) Just wait for the blood tests, and post any abnormal values that your doctor tells you. Take care of yourself man.
