is this worth trying - 04-16-2008

hey guys i have a few questions that i would like to ask. first of let me start by saying im 19 im 6'5" and weigh about 170lbs. i know im on the small side and look funny just cuz im so tall. i work at a jail and being 19 i already get some crap from the inmates, but being small i get even more. so with that said i want to "bulk up" to say the the least. its not easy for me to gain weight belive me i try. i was thinking of buying the p90x workout u see on tv, it says get ripped in 90 days. i know you cant belive everything you see on tv but i really have herd alot of good things about this workout and think it might work. i have cofidence that you will get ripped if you follow the plan, but im not sure if it would work for a guy like me thats already on the small side. i would really like to gain atlest 20lbs maybe a little more and be around 190-200lbs. but i also want to have muscle and look good. i think it would totally change my life and give me a new found self cofidence. if you guys have any tips or even better some sort of plan that i could follow that you think would work for me you have know idea how thankful i would be. thanks alot

I can empathize with your situation, when I was younger I too had a problem with gaining weight. However, that's not a problem for me now, but that's another story...

There is a lot of sharp guys here who have backgrounds in proper dieting and nutrition. I do understand your not trying to lose weight, but a proper diet doesn't necessarily mean you have to lose weight...

The best person here that can help you get on the right track would be a Super Moderator by the name of TriGenetics. If you would shoot him a PM (Private Message) and explain your situation, I am sure he would be more then happy to help you acheive your goals...

I have a friend who does the p90x and he gets amazing results from it.He hasn't really bulked up from it because to do that,obviously your diet has to be in check.But he has now got an amazing body from taking this 'course' and he says that he's never felt so strong and healthy in his life.But if you can be dedicated to the p90x and also be dedicated to your diet,I would think that you'd bulk up some hard muscle pretty quickly.Soooo.......I would say that the p90x is well worth giving a try!!

I can empathize, I am 6'10" tall and was about your size when I was 16. It took the rigors of making a varsity football team that had multiple state championships and a coach that respected my hard work to get me broken out of the realm of the skinnies.

It takes some serious training and strict attention to diet to pack on weight at your age and size because metabolism tends to be through the roof, so here are some pointers...

First of all, ignore the punks in your jail. They are there for a reason and they'll give you shit no matter how big or bad you are. They don't have anything better to do. Feel free to remind them of that and that you will be going home at the end of your shift if they get too lippy...

secondly, what are your diet and training regimen like? Just to say "I want to buy this product will it help" is not enough useful information for us to give ya some assisstance achieving your goals of packing on 20 lbs.

third, are you willing to work for it? Can you set a goal, learn what you need to do to achieve it, develop a plan and stick to it?

That's the most important thing you need to be a bodybuilder.

My honest opionon. P90x seems to be a great program and probably is if followed correctly with a good diet. But as for bulking, I wouldnt think you'd bulk much off of a program like that. You would most likely gain strength, and stamina and see some gains, but I wouldnt think you'd pack on the pounds. But, Im not a bodybuilder and I dont train like one. And I think the program is around 100usd to buy, use that money on a gym, post a workout routine and your diet and let some of the expeirenced members critique it, and do work! IMO.
