Inter provincial bodybuilding championship from April 3
LAHORE, Mar 31 (APP)- National inter provincial bodybuilding championship will be held from April 3 at Faisalabad, a event being introduced to promote the game in the provinces.
Teams from Punjab, NWFP, CSindh, Balochistan, FATA and Islamabad will be featuring in the two-day meet, a new event added in the calendar of Pakistan bodybuilding federation to speed up efforts by involving provinces in the overall development of the game.
“When provinces compete alongside strong departmental teams they have a fear of facing the might of superior opponents but we giving them a platform to compete without such a fear factor “,said Sheikh Farooq, Secretary,PBBF while talking to APP here on Monday.
He said around 100 musclemen will put their healthy physique and muscles on display and it will be good opportunity for them to attend a training camp for the build up of the team for taking part in the South Asian bodybuilding championship. Nepal will host the regional event from May 24.
PBBF official said trials for the selection of Pak team for Nepal event will be held here on April 12 in which musclemen from departments will also take part besides participants chosen from inter provincial championship.
He said a dozen of bodybuilders will be selected for attending the camp from which a six member team will be selected to fly to Nepal.
“We have good prospects of winning the medals in South Asian championship as our young bodybuilders are in good form by maintaining extra ordinary physique”, he added.
Secretary, Pakistan Olympic Association, Major (retd) Muhammad Afzal will be the chief guest on the closing ceremony of inter provincial championship.
