2007 Muscle Beach Memorial Day Classic

Since it’s inception the events at Muscle Beach have always been open to the public at no charge. This practice continues to make Muscle Beach Venice one of the largest amusement attractions in the Los Angeles area. The focus remains exercise and nutrition and the site continues to be the grassroots soul of bodybuilding famous throughout the world. Here is the flyer for the upcoming Muscle Beach Venice Memorial Day Weekend Classic.



What is the Hall of Fame
The Muscle Beach Venice Bodybuilding Hall of Fame recognizes excellence in bodybuilding and physical culture. It recognizes individuals who have inspired, informed, entertained, and advanced the art, sport and the science of bodybuilding and physical culture. Each year, the Muscle Beach Venice Bodybuilding Hall of Fame President assembles a committee of bodybuilding authorities to choose a person in consideration for induction into the Hall of Fame. Inductees will include a minimum of three and a maximum of up to six individuals. Bodybuilding champions must be retired for at least five (5) years before being eligible for consideration and have at least ten (10) years of active participation in the bodybuilding field as a competitor, trainer, gym owner, or bodybuilding journalist.
The Lifetime Achievement Award, a special designation, awarded to an individual who has had at least thirty-years (30) of active experience in the field and must have demonstrated significant influence in the advancement of the art, sport, and science of bodybuilding and physical culture.

What is the Walk of Fame
In 2003, the Muscle Beach Venice Bodybuilding Hall of Fame inducted its first “Hall of Famer” Don Howorth. Since then, an additional 21-bodybuilding greats have been inducted including such notables at Cory Everson, Mickey Hargitay, Frank Zane, Dave Draper, Rachel McLish, John Balik, and Samir Banout. The Muscle Beach Venice Hall of Fame has also recognized those alumni “pioneers” of Santa Monica - Paula Boelsom, Glenn Sundby, and

Armand Tanny who were integral in establishing the foundation for fitness at the beach. This year will see the completion of the Muscle Beach Venice
Walk of Fame that will celebrate the recipients of the Hall of Fame Awards, by honoring each inductee with the placement of a bronze plaque of recognition incorporated into the foundation of the “Weight Pen” at Muscle Beach Venice. Similar to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the public will be able to view the individuals awarded this recognition.
