Diuretics? - 04-20-2008

Anybody know of some good diuretic pills for competition? I have Taraxatone right now but I was wondering if anybody's used any other good ones. Thanks.

Diuretics
Diuretics, sometimes called water pills, treat a variety of conditions, such as high blood pressure, glaucoma and edema. Find out more about this class of medication.
Diuretics, sometimes called water pills, help rid your body of sodium and water. They work by making your kidneys excrete more sodium in urine. The sodium, in turn, takes water with it from your blood. That decreases the amount of fluid flowing through your blood vessels, which reduces pressure on the walls of your arteries.

Examples of diuretics
There are three types of diuretics: thiazide, loop and potassium-sparing. Each works by affecting a different part of your kidneys, and each may have different uses, side effects and precautions. Which diuretic is best for you depends on your health and the condition being treated.

Examples of thiazide diuretics include:

Hydrochlorothiazide
Metolazone (Zaroxolyn)
Examples of loop diuretics include:

Furosemide (Lasix)
Bumetanide (Bumex)
Examples of potassium-sparing diuretics include:

Spironolactone (Aldactone)
Eplerenone (Inspra)
Different types of diuretics may also be combined into one pill.

Uses for diuretics
A large group of medical experts known as the Joint National Committee on Prevention, Detection, Evaluation, and Treatment of High Blood Pressure recommends that most people should try thiazide diuretics as the first choice to treat high blood pressure and heart problems related to high blood pressure. In addition, doctors prescribe certain diuretics to prevent, treat or improve symptoms in a variety of conditions, such as:

Congestive heart failure
Edema
Polycystic ovary syndrome
Certain kidney disorders, such as kidney stones
Diabetes insipidus
Female hirsutism
Osteoporosis
Side effects and cautions
In general, potential side effects of diuretics include increased urination, weakness, dizziness, impotence, dehydration and, depending on the type of diuretic, potassium decrease or increase, or sodium decrease.

Wow Thanks Tri. I did not expect that much information when I posted this thread. I read about Lasix and I am afraid to take it because it's so dangerous and you have to be really careful taking it. I know you can take Aldactone with it to help balance the Lasix out. Have you ever tryed any of these diuretis before?

That does work. I think I am just going to stick to the original plan with the diet and cardio. I will take taraxatone the final week and lower my sodium intake the last week and sip on water the final couple of days. It worked in the past but I thought I would try get some other thoughts. Thanks Tri for the info bro. The sauna is a thought I just had....

To lose weight you need to adjust your diet so you are burning more calories than you are taking in. Eat lean white meats with good complex carbs like brown rice, sweet potatoes, potatoes, whole wheat bread and pasta, oatmeal, etc. There are some good fat burners out there. The one I usualy take year round is a product called Stimerex by High Tech. You have probably heard of it. It has 25mg of Ephedra extract. This is if you want to go the legal route. Otherwise clenbuteral is a good choice or the original ECA(ephedrine/caffine/aspirin stack. Do cardio 3-5x's a week for about 20 mins to an hour. That should help you lose some weight. Also try cut carbs out 4 hours before you go to sleep. That will make a huge difference

I used that to get some extra water off my abs for the contest I did last week. I got 4th but not gotten my photos yet from the photographer. When I get them I'll post them in a new thread. ITs crazy that hemroid creme can get rid of extra water under your skin. I will do again when I compete again.
