charlie.horses hurt so bad! - 05-22-2008

geeze! the other day i was yawning and then my throat locked up and the muscles i my esophagus (?) went crazy, I had to physically shut my mouth with my hands and press my tounge to the roof of my mouth for a few minutes.... man it freakin hurt.. also--does anyone else wake up in the middle of the night and they are having sever cramps or charlie horses in their legs (ie calfs and hammy).. ive done research and am drinkin a ton of water and am still getting them, i guess i should just stretch more...i really want to stay away from the bananas because of the sugar but the potassium is supposed to help fight cramping.. anyone else know about any other food high in potassium?

i dunno, just wanted to throw this out there

I hate those. I get those cramps in the mouth when I yawn sometimes. You can try taking multi-vitamins that have potassium in it daily. I personally use Animal Pack. Or you can buy potassium seperately. You should take a multi anyway, so I would find one with that included. Also, I wouldn't shy away from a banana at certain times of the day, but only first thing in the morning with protein, or right after a workout, which the simple carb is most likely to be burned off, and helps to shuttle protein quickly to ur muscles. That's the only time that I would consume a simple carb like that.

Also, taurine is supposed to help with cramps as well.

bump. just buy some potassium supps. theyre cheap. see if they help. if they don't, id go get a blood test and consult your doc. take care of yourself.
