Cool Caloric Intake - 11-06-2006

Iam a 210lb. 6"1 male who eats approx. 3800 cal. p/d to maintain my current weight.
What would be the calorie count if I wanted to increase my muscular percentage
without getting big and fat.

Firstly let me say how many calories are in three basic categories of food:
1g of Protein = 4 calories
1g of Carbohydrates = 4 calories
1g of Fat = 9 calories

Now, to be succesful in gaining muscle mass you have to follow theses simple rules:

- eat at least every 3 hours with protein at each sitting
- bulk of diet should come from whole solid foods
- use protein supplements
- have something as soon as you wake up and immediate after your work-out(this will prevent your muscle tisses from breakdown)
- the protein intake should be at 1-2g of protein per pound of bodyweight.
- remember body can not assimilate more than 30-35 grams of protein per intake
- the main rule should look like: 25% proteins, 60% carbohydrates, 15% fats
- increase your caloric intake little by little
- train hard

Following these simple rules you would normally gain about 1-2 pounds of muscle per week.

If there are any other questions which I can answer feel free to ask.

get off the slim fast diet - 07-30-2007

My friend, What you should do is get off the slim fast diet because you are probably spending the same amount of money for the shakes and all that stuff that you would be if you just went to the grocery store and bought healthy foods. And with healthy foods, you can eat like that forever...you don't have to go on the diet and go off...thats why diets never work! But if you need the "dieting" feeling then by all means, stick with it. Whatever works for you.
