Any advice for a beginner? - 07-29-2008

I'm an average guy here trying to become lean, so I guess that's losing weight. Do you guys think I need a serious nutritional schedule? I don't mean to make excuses, but since I'm young do I really have to be extremely serious about nutrition? Don't get me wrong, I have been eating healthy and cut out junk food. However, I'm not sure if what I'm eating is healthy enough or if it's considered nutritional at all. I have a very fit friend who told me I don't have to worry that much about nutrition as long as I work my ass off at the gym. So any advice for me? Thanks!

I don't agree with your friend and think you should take care about your diet and take nutrituonal food as healthy nutritional food helps you to loose weight and alsohelps you to keep yourself fit and fine.

Nutrition is and always has been key to leaning out......Your best bet is to have your bmi checked then see a nutritionist about setting you up with a good plan....I learned from hit and miss and i have found the best way to lean out is to eat every two hours portions aboout the size of my hand.....And you want to eat good simple food stay away from refined or processed garbage clean proteins fish chicken steak(only good cuts) and green leafy vegies watch the suger content in fruit etc etc diet and a good work ethic and you will drop weight like a bstrd

When I started training I didnt put much thought into my diet (just cutting out mcDonalds and Pizza) ... But when I realised how important it was and came up with a decent diet plan my gains doubled.

mike mentzer had a good saying .... "You don't grow at the gym" ... i.e. you can work out as hard and as long as you like. but unless you have proper recovery though food and rest you're not going anywhere.

diet is key

Bump That. Just not eating fast food is not good enough. Eating healthy becomes a habit, if you treat it like a lifestyle. Start knowing what to eat and when to eat it. Start breaking your daily caloric intake into meals at least 6 times a day. It maybe tough for a month or two, but you will get used to it. Find once a week to treat yourself. I heard a saying "its not a cheesburger that makes you fat, its all the other ones that do".
