Abs-yes or no?? - 05-19-2008

i'm currently over weight (about 80#) but i've been working on geeting back in to shape. I went back to my old ways of lifting, cardio, nutrition, & AAS. I know i have a long road ahead of me and i'm fine with that-i can handle it.

However, when i was working on abs, some guys from the gym told me to lay off and not work my abs yet. They told me to first loose some weight then work my abs. They said the muscle will build up behind my fat, push my stomach out further, and make it look as if my stomach is getting larger.

Now i know the more muscle i have the more fat i burn, but now i'm not sure about working abs.

Is it true, should i wait to loose some of my gut before i work my abs???

Abs - 05-19-2008

I thnk you should continue to do ab work as it will help stabilise your mid section, I also think they are talking about a more cosmetic problem. What is needed is tighter stomach muscles anyway. Having stronger abs will help you with other exercises, so in the long run it will pay off to continue to do them.
Doing those abs will also help with your posture as tightening those obliques and those smaller muscles help in realigning your spine, a better posture will also improve confidence levels and help in losing weight. So these things far outweigh the problem of having a bloated look for a while anyway.
I hope this was of some help.
P.S. keep up the good work, you will get back in no time

Let me tell you this, I was 65lbs over weight.

My diet was no soda.
Instead of 3-4 quesdillas. I ate 1.
instead of 3 sandwhiches I ate 1-2.
hardly any fast food, but still atleast once weekly

I swam ED for 3 months about 20minutes.
lost 65lbs.

If you just make ur body go WTF IS HAPPENING AHHHHHH its like the wicked witch of the west - shes melting!!!!

Bottom line is work all muscle groups! Dont not train one and then come back and have a lagging body part. You core is very important. Actually working abs and have a strong mid section will help you not have back problems as well. Work em brotha!
More muscle you work the more fat you will burn!

you need to work on your diet but thats another story...also, the AAS you are using is just a waste with your current diet...

they are telling you the truth about working your abs...work them maybe once or twice a wk just to keep them in shape...
