When you pull the plunger back, create a pocket of air in the syringe, then thump that syringe a few times like you would thump somebody's ear... I guarantee you that gear will have no choice but to leave that needle and come down to the plunger, it is called gravity use it to your advantage...
After, you get all the gear out of the needle, and with the air pocket still in the syringe cyclinder, pump the plunger up and down, and then thump it a couple of more times and then your dilemma is solved... After that, ease your gear up the needle slowly, and you wont waste a drop....
The key is thumping the syringe so everything flows down towards the plunger... I don't like wasting gear either...
